What to Expect
If you’re selected for a focus group, here’s what the experience usually looks like:
- A scheduled conversation at a set date and time
- A small group with other participants
- A friendly, guided discussion led by a research professional
- Clear instructions provided in advance, including how to join
- Minimal preparation — though some groups may include a short pre-task or ask you to review materials beforehand
Some groups take place virtually using video conferencing tools, while others may be conducted in person depending on the project and location.
Incentives for Focus Groups
Participants who complete a focus group typically earn $75-$200+ per session as a thank-you for their time and contribution.

- Length of the focus group
- Any pre-session assignments or homework needed
